Published on : April 2018

Held under the patronage of the Commissions of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and the West African Economic and Monetary Union (UEMOA), the restricted meeting of the RPCA brought together some 150 representatives from Sahelian and West African countries, intergovernmental organisations, agro-pastoral professional organisations, civil society organisations,
the private sector and technical and financial partners at the OECD headquarters in Paris. They took stock of the final results of the 2017-18 agro-pastoral campaign, examined the food and nutrition situation, and made recommendations on concrete measures for crisis prevention and management. Progress achieved and the lessons learned from the Global Alliance for Resilience (AGIR) were examined, five years after the adoption of its roadmap. The provisional results of the second external evaluation of the Charter for the Prevention and Management of Food Crises (PREGEC) were assessed as well as progress made on other RPCA work.
