Realised by the Association for the Promotion of Livestock in the Sahel and Savannah (APESS), the report on the effects of COVID-19 in the livestock sector in West and Central Africa aims to assess the impact of the pandemic on livelihoods and food situation of agropastoral family farms in West and Central Africa; to study the relevance and effectiveness of the social measures of the COVID 19 response plans developed in 8 countries in reducing the level of vulnerability of agro-pastoral family farms, and to analyse the endogenous mechanisms for managing crises and uncertainties on agro-pastoral family farms. The study is based on an analysis of documents on the pandemic and response plans, on a COVID watch organised since May 2020 from the APESS national coordination units in 8 West and Central African countries (Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Guinea Bissau, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Chad).
