This advocacy note, prepared by Action Against Hunger, draws attention to the precarious situation in the Sahel. Violence in the Sahel is having a major impact on food and nutrition security. The region is reaching an unprecedented peak, endangering the lives of the most vulnerable, including women, children under five, the poor and the elderly. The needs are enormous, and weariness sets in the face of the worsening situation and the responses are carried out timely. For 2021, the financial needs for Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali and Niger are estimated at USD 1 billion for food and nutritional assistance. To date, only 7-15% of this amount has been mobilised.
